31 - top five races of 2008... |
|
In the final days of 2008, WoO released 5
press releases highlighting the 5 most memorable
races of the year. Each day lead us to a drumroll
confirming what we already knew: Jac was the
most memorable driver of the year! Being featured
in 4 out of 5 "memorable" races,
The Wild Child really stood out.
COUNTDOWN
TO 2009 WITH 5 RACES
5 - "The
first event that will be featured will be
the race from April 5 at I-55 Raceway in
Pevely, Missouri that saw Jason Meyers and
Craig Dollansky battle tooth and nail for
the $10,000 win, with Meyers leading the
final nine laps of the 40-lap event and
holding off a hard charging Dollansky on
the final lap, to win by mere inches on
the always racy high-banked 1/3-mile."
4 - "The
second event that will be featured is the
inaugural World of Outlaws race from Lucas
Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri that
was held on September 14, in which Jac Haudenschild
and Craig Dollansky traded the lead five
times over the course of the 35-lap contest,
with Haudenschild coming out on top."
3 - "The
third event that will be featured will be
the race from September 21 at Lebanon Valley
Speedway in New York which had been postponed
by rain prior to the A-Feature on July 20.
The race saw Jac Haudenschild charge off
the high side of the fourth turn on the
last lap, threading the needle between Jason
Meyers and the wall to edge Meyers by just
0.014 seconds to earn his 50th career World
of Outlaws A-Feature win.
2 - "The
fourth event that will be featured will
be the October 17 race from Ocean Speedway
in Watsonville, California. The race saw
Jac Haudenschild battle Steve Kinser in
heavy lapped traffic on the ¼-mile,
nearly taking the lead a couple of times,
before the 20-time series champion prevailed.
Both drivers climbed out of their cars on
the front straightaway after the race and
gave each other high-fives."
1 - "The last event that will be
featured will be the October 18 race from
Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California.
T he race saw Jac Haudenschild and Steve
Kinser battle for the win for the
second consecutive night on a bullring,
with Haudenschild coming out on top after
getting around the 20-time series champion
in heavy lapped traffic at the high-banked
1/3-mile." <READ

10 - season in review |
| Jac
Haudenschild has been winning sprint car
races and thrilling fans for the last 30
years and he continued that trend in 2008
during the 30th Anniversary World of Outlaws
Sprint Car Series campaign.
The native of Wooster,
Ohio teamed up with the Carnahan Motorsports
team this year based out of Minnesota to
drive the No. R19. Consistency throughout
the season led the veteran driver to a very
solid fifth-place finish in the World of
Outlaws championship standings, on the strength
of five A-Feature wins, including his third
career Gold Cup Race of Champions triumph,
which was worth $50,000.
“It was a pretty good year,”
said Haudenschild. “We’re glad
we won some races. We got Chico (the Gold
Cup) and that is a good one to get. The
R19 was good all year and I am looking forward
to running it again next year.” <story>

3 - lowes finale |
| Jac
and the Carnahan Motorsports Team finished
up the season at the Lowes Motor Speedway
dirt track over the weekend - and that even
included the Saturday finale broadcast LIVE
on Speed Channel. The car was fast all weekend,
posting good qualifying laps and heat races
finishes which put him the dash both nights.
Friday night was a 7th place finish while
mechanical issues ruined a good Saturday
night run. The #R19 eventually came home
in 22nd place.

26 - heartland park results; one more weekend
to go |
| After
winning at Heartland Park Topeka for the
second time in his career last season, a
bounty was placed on two-time defending
Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Donny
Schatz. The series returned to the Kansas
track on Saturday night for the second annual
Thunder at the Heartland, which was postponed
by rain last month. Schatz made sure that
none of his fellow drivers claimed the bounty,
as he took the checkered flag to win for
the second consecutive season and third
time in his career at the track..
Kraig Kinser joined
his teammate on the podium by finishing
third in the Bass Pro Shops Maxim. He fought
off an early battle from Jac Haudenschild
and late in the race tried everything he
could to find a way around Madsen. “It was
a real good night,” said Kinser. “I wish
we could have been a little bit closer,
especially a couple of times when those
guys were up there racing. All in all it
was a good night. A third-place finish is
good and I’m glad to be up front. We had
the opportunity to run one-two as a team
and almost did, so that is a good as well.”
Jac Haudenschild finished fourth in the
Owens-Corning Fiberglass Maxim, with fellow
Ohio native Chad Kemenah in fifth in the
Kantor Oil Company Maxim. <READ
